AUDITION FOR FILM & TELEVISIONheadshot
with Chris Freihofer

6-Week Session.  Mondays, 6:30-9:30 pm
Class Limit: 10
Cost:  $275
NEXT SESSION BEGINS:
June 14, 2010

Oklahoma Casting Director and professional actor Chris Freihofer, Director and Founder of The Actor Factory, offers his very popular limited 6-week class entitled "Audition for Film & Television" on Monday nights at The Factory.  The class is designed for both beginning and advanced actors to receive professional training and critique in their audition technique for film and television.

Class participants will be emailed audition material to prepare during the week prior to class.  These scenes are taken from either current, highly-rated network television series, or big-budget studio features currently casting, or still awaiting release.  The audition material will be accompanied by an assignment involving an area of focus for the audition.  Participants will be videotaped and evaluated during class time, with constructive criticism given to improve the actor's technique.  Each participant will be provided a video of their class work each week, including his or her on-camera instruction and critique.

Also each week, a short lesson will be offered concerning the industry.  Headshots, resumes, agents, the unions and marketing skills and opportunities will be covered.

"Auditioning is a skill.  It is a different part of your performance.  It is a one-act play and a mind game.  This class will help actors overcome all the baggage that's associated with auditioning and concentrate on the ob at hand: getting the job," he said.

Freihofer has appeared as an actor in numerous film and television productions.  Upcoming roles include the feature films LEAVES OF GRASS, with Edward Norton, Kerri Russell and Tim Blake Nelson (opening in limited release April 2) and THE EX-TERMINATORS with Heather Graham and Jennifer Coolidge.  He will appear on NBC in "Friday Night Lights" later this year.  Recent film and television appearances include "The Deep End" on ABC, Oliver Stone's "W.", Fox Television's "Prison Break" and "Wildfire" on ABC Family. He is a member of Screen Actors Guild.

As a casting director, Freihofer cast the recent Oklahoma films HEAVEN'S RAIN, THE KILLER INSIDE ME, TIME EXPIRED, BARKING WATER, PEARL, WISTERIA; THE STORY OF ALBERT FISH, The Sundance Film Festival award-winning film FOUR SHEETS TO THE WIND and many others, including hundreds of national, regional and state-wide commercials for such clients as The Oklahoma Lottery, AAA, Blue Cross, American Clean Skies, Chesapeake Energy, AAA, OU Medical Center, Aladdin Bail Bonds, The ONE Campaign and hundreds more.  For full casting credits, visit the website www.FreihoferCasting.com

The class is open to beginning or advanced actors aged 16 and up.

To register for this class, call The Actor Factory at 405.701.1673.
This is not a job interview or audition. The intent of the class is solely educational. The presence of a casting director is neither a guarantee nor a promise of employment.

IMPROV PERFORMANCE
Rebecca teachingwith Rebecca McCauley
Sundays, 6:00-7:30 pm
6- Week Session.
Class limit: 12
Cost:  $200

NEXT SESSION BEGINS:   June 20, 2010

Learn the basics of Improv Performance in this high-energy, fun and positive class.

McCauley will teach the basic fundamentals of creative performance with no script and very little audience input, in a class situation similar to Second City.  It is the classic long-form improv art form, summoning out of nothing while on stage.  Students will learn trust, the rules of on-stage improv, team work and invention in this carefully-guided class.

McCauley stresses that there is no improv background needed for this class, and the setting will be fun, lively and funny in a very trusting, lighthearted and supportive environment.  She stresses that it is not a comedy class and comedic skills are not required.  This is also not a class of short-form improv games, but teaches the fundamentals of Herald Improv, also known as 'Chicago Style'.

This is probably the most fun class people take at The Actor Factory.

McCauley is arguably the best teacher of improv in the area.  She has appeared with the best local sketch and improv groups, including Baloney Rodeo, Babies with Rabies, Comedy Bowl and others.  She has performed in clubs, bars, private parties and more.  Along with being an accomplished improv performer, McCauley works professionally on stage and in front of the camera and microphone.  She has voice hundreds of commercials during her career, and appears in the films RAINBOW AROUND THE SUN, PEARL, THE ROUNDER COMES TO TOWN, and the Lifetime film A CHRISTMAS CHILD.  She just finished filming a major supporting role in the film HEAVEN'S RAIN.  She has appeared in dozens of commercials and stage productions, and is one of the most beloved actors in the state.

The class is open to beginning or advanced actors aged 17 and up.

To register for any class, call The Factory at 405.701.1673.

Advanced Voiceover Workshop

In this workshop, Andy Long discusses advanced commercial voiceover, industrial voiceover - reading medical or statistical lingo without putting the listener to sleep, the art of the timed read (can you read a paragraph in exactly 30 seconds?)  We'll also explore character voices and improvisation.

We'll have professional recording equipment in the workshop so you can practice working with real commercial and industrial voiceover copy.  Then you'll listen to the playback, receive honest and constructive feedback, and you'll try again incorporating any changes that were recommended.

To make things really interesting, you'll watch a commercial with the sound muted and practice reading the corresponding voiceover while trying to synchronize your delivery with the titles on the screen.  Then, we'll watch a children's video (again with the sound muted) and you'll improvise dialogue to match with characters in the video.  A very challenging exercise that explores your talent for improv as well as character voices.
