Basic Voiceover Workshop:

In this workshop, Andy Long discusses the business of voiceover - what kinds of voiceover jobs are available and how to go about pursuing them.  We talk about the different kinds of voiceover demos and how to put them together.  And we discuss how to go about finding an agent.

We'll also have professional recording equipment in the workshop so you can practice working with real commercial voiceover copy.  Then you'll listen to the playback, receive honest and constructive feedback, and you'll try again incorporating any changes that were recommended.

You'll also discover your "key voice" and will learn what type of voiceover is best suited for your voice and personality.

Next Workshop:

DATE: To Be Announced

TIME: Noon - 4PM

LOCATION:
Dallas Children's Theatre
5938 Skillman St.
Dallas, TX 75231

Registration:  $150
(Also available with our Combo Deal.)

Advanced Voiceover Workshop:

In this workshop, Andy Long discusses advanced commercial voiceover, industrial voiceover - reading medical or statistical lingo without putting the listener to sleep, the art of the timed read (can you read a paragraph in exactly 30 seconds?)  We'll also explore character voices and improvisation.

We'll have professional recording equipment in the workshop so you can practice working with real commercial and industrial voiceover copy.  Then you'll listen to the playback, receive honest and constructive feedback, and you'll try again incorporating any changes that were recommended.

To make things really interesting, you'll watch a commercial with the sound muted and practice reading the corresponding voiceover while trying to synchronize your delivery with the titles on the screen.  Then, we'll watch a children's video (again with the sound muted) and you'll improvise dialogue to match with characters in the video.  A very challenging exercise that explores your talent for improv as well as character voices.

Advanced Voiceover

Voiceover Workshop For Kids:

This workshop is geared specifically for kids aged 8-14 years old and is structured to introduce young actors to the art of voiceover.

Andy Long (who has taught kids in various forms of acting for years) discusses the business of voiceover - what kinds of voiceover jobs are available and how to go about pursuing them.  He'll talk about the different kinds of voiceover demos and how to put them together.  Andy will also discuss how to go about finding an agent.

In the workshop, we'll have professional recording equipment to introduce your kids to a studio-like atmosphere.  The kids will practice working with real commercial voiceover copy, learn to quickly scan text and find important words within the text, and find an energetic, yet honest approach to the material.  Then they'll listen to the playback, receive constructive feedback that will help build confidence, and then try again incorporating any changes that were recommended.  They'll also discover their "key voice" and will learn what type of voiceover is best suited for them.

Parents are welcome to observe the class, but if you wish to drop off and leave, we encourage you to attend the Q&A session during the last 30 minutes of the class.
